Activist Suhani Jalota, who runs Myna Mahila Foundation, attended the royal wedding of #PrinceHary and #MeghanMarkle on Saturday in an elegant sari designed by Indian brand #RawMango run by designer #SanjayGarg.
Sanjay Garg, Textile Designer and Founder, Raw Mango told: “We are excited that we were able to represent and create something more than what meets the eyes – the sari is a symbol that is rooted in culture, heritage and history, which speaks to one’s individuality & identity, therefore becoming a medium to express oneself.”
Myna Mahila foundation empowers women to speak about issues they are most afraid to discuss aloud – they encourage and employ women from urban slums in Mumbai to manufacture and sell affordable sanitary pads back into their communities, improving menstrual hygiene, providing stable employment, and building a trusted network.
Suhani met Meghan in 2016 when the former went to give an acceptance speech at the Glamour College Women of the Year Awards.
