Let your skin do the talking this festive season

There is no denying that prepping your skin for the festive rush is as important as nailing the final look. Opting for #Vitamin_C enriched products or taking #cocoa or mulberry can do the talking for your skin.

let-your-skin-do-talking-this-festive-season
Sangeeta Velaskar, Vice President and Head, Medical Services and R&D, Kaya Limited, throws light on a few ingredients that one must look out for before opting for the next facial:

♦ Vitamin C: The antioxidant properties of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and its role in brightening make vitamin C a vital molecule for skin health. Dietary and topical ascorbic acid have beneficial effects on skin cells and studies have shown that vitamin C may also help prevent and treat ultraviolet (UV)-induced photo damage

♦ Cocoa: Free radicals are the reactive forms of oxygen generated when UV light hits the skin. It is well established that the ageing of the skin caused by sunlight is largely the result of damage to the skin's proteins caused by these free radicals. Cocoa is packed with antioxidants that help repair skin cells and neutralize harmful free radicals

Women get more adventurous at sex in midlife

Women are likely to be more #adventurous_in_the_bedroom as they age even if the number of nights ignited by passion may drop, suggests new research.

women-get-more-adventurous-at-sex-in-midlife
The findings are based on a study by University of Pittsburgh researchers who spoke to 39 women about how their sex lives changed with age, Daily Mail reported on Thursday.

The confidence that comes with age may play a role in the increased satisfaction with sex that the women -- aged between 46 and 59 - reported, the study said.

"One of the most enlightening findings of this study was the large number of women who had successfully adapted to any negative changes by modifying their expectations regarding sexual activity, putting more emphasis on the emotional and intimacy aspects of sex, or adapting the sex acts themselves," the study's lead author Holly Thomas was quoted as saying.

Five simple ways to keep weight in check

With the festive season approaching, keeping a tab on your weight can be a little difficult. A few precautions can be taken to avoid gaining #excessive_weight, says an expert.

five-simple-ways-to-keep-weight-in-check
Kajal Bhatia, Consultant Nutritionist at RAW Pressery, a cold pressed juice brand, suggests how:

* Binge-eating at odd timings is a holiday delight but going overboard is very unhealthy and very easy. Skipping meals to balance out festive eating is also a very bad idea, as it only makes one ravenous later.

To avoid consuming a lot of calories, eat a filling, low-calorie snack or dish before leaving for a celebration. Protein, especially, will keep you feeling full, ensuring you only eat festival treats in small amounts.

Also try factoring in a few days of light eating prior to the festive season, in addition to consuming alkaline foods including spinach, broccoli and banana.

'M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story': Chugs along touching right nerve

Film: "M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story"; Director: Neeraj Pandey; Cast: Sushant Singh Rajput, Disha Patani, Kiara Advani, Anupam Kher, Bhumika Chawla, Ram Charan and Herry Tangiri; Rating: ***

ms-dhoni-untold-story-movie-review
This biopic is far from inspirational. Nevertheless, it reveals the trials and tribulations of the unassuming Indian Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni who rose meteorically, only on the basis of his merit.

Well-mounted with moderate production values, the film documents the cricketer's life. But the script lacks the chutzpah of his personality. Moving in a lacklustre manner on an even keel, the narrative lacks drama.

The film delves on Dhoni's childhood and how he got absorbed in cricket, his struggle in balancing his work life and his passion, his brief romance, his sincerity to the game and everything he did in life. On the cricketing front, it covers the laid-back attitude of the bureaucrats, politics of the game and Dhoni's tenure as the captain of the team.

The script does not touch upon controversies and subjects like his younger brother Narendra Singh Dhoni, Mahi's selection as the captain, his camaraderie and team spirit.

With a run time of 3 hours and 10 minutes, the film is extremely lengthy. The first half of the narrative meanders at a snail's pace with nothing meaningful happening and the second half salvages the film with revelations of Dhoni's personal life.

However, growing up in the spotlight has given Winter the opportunity to grow thick skin against negative critics.

"At this stage, you get sort of jaded after a certain period of time. I feel like I've been in the industry for so long that I have gotten to that point where people's comments and the exposure doesn't bother me as much," she said.

"It still bothers people when you get negative feedback for something, but it doesn't hit me as hard as it would somebody just entering the industry."

Clearly, Tannishtha was not amused with the 'roast' that she went for on "Comedy Nights Bachao", and she wrote a Facebook post to vent her anger after experiencing that the only thing the hosts could 'roast' about a dark-skinned actress was "of course her dark skin".

Her post went viral on social media, leading to a debate on the limit to humour.

Upset about Tannishtha's experience, filmmaker and social activist Ashoke Pandit called the show "sexist".

Saif's comment comes in the wake of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) directive that Pakistani artistes must not work in India.

"It (cultural exchange) should definitely be encouraged. The world is open to our film industry and our film industry is open to the world talents, especially from cross-border. However, the government has to decide these things," Saif Ali Khan said.

"We are artistes who talk about love and peace. However, the government must make decisions about law and order and who is allowed to work and who isn't," Saif said on the sidelines of the GQ Men of the Awards event on Tuesday night here.
