Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, along with ace filmmakers Ketan Mehta, Jahnu Barua and Sudhir Mishra, on Friday inaugurated the 7th Jagran Film Festival, which, aiming at showcasing films of "cinematic brilliance" from around the world, will travel to 16 cities aross India and will screen over 400 films.

Also present at the inaugural ceremony were composer Sandesh Shandilya, film editor Ballu Saluja and cinematographer Avinash Arun among others.

The seven edition of the festival kick-started with the back-to-back screening of Mehta's award winning short film "Toba Tek Singh" and Pakistani filmmaker Sabiha Sumar's "Chotay Shah".

Featuring Pankaj Kapur and Vinay Pathak in the lead, "Toba Tek Singh is based on late author Saadat Hassan Manto's short story of the same name. "Chotay Shah", on other hand, stars Pakistani actors Adnan Jaffar and Maira Khan in the lead.

The festival will witness a retrospective on Naseeruddin Shah's five acclaimed films including "Waiting", "Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hai" and "Monsoon Wedding".

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan says that he is not playing a warrior or a guide in any film yet, as was reported based on one of his tweets.

"I am a warrior,a dwarf & a guide. i am not wot i ought to, want or hope to be. i am all that & i am wot i am. My 2 bits on my upcoming roles," he had said in the tweet.

Asked about the cryptic tweet at an event for furnishing brand D'Decor, Shah Rukh said: "I have been reading, I sometimes just comment on what I read. So I was reading that I'm a warrior in Adi's (Aditya Chopra) film, I'm a dwarf in Aanand's (Rai) film, which I am, I'm a guide in one of the other films and a counsellor in Gauri Shinde's film. And there were two other films that I was doing, which I am not, at this point, at least.

Consuming butter in limited quantities may not increase the risk of heart disease or stroke -- and it might actually be slightly protective against diabetes, finds a new study.

The findings showed that patients suffering from heart problems or any related chronic diseases have no cause to worry as the increase in risk due to butter consumption was extremely small. 

Butter has been found as a healthier choice in comparison to sugar and starch-enriched food like white bread or potatoes. 

However, butter when spread on unhealthy foods like white bread may increase the risk of diabetes as well as cardiovascular diseases.

Veteran designer Ritu Seksaria, an expert in bridal couture, will exhibit her creations at the second edition of Ruchika Fest 2016 here for a noble cause.

The designer will showcase her collection at the two-day fest, which will be held at Dome at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium at Worli here from Friday. All the funds garnered from the sale at the fest will go to an orphanage named Samparc, read a statement.

Irrfan Khan will soon head to Hyderabad to promote his upcoming film "Madaari". The actor hopes to take out time and turn into a tourist for a day to visit the iconic Charminar and relish the delicacies of the city.

Irrfan has been on a promotion spree since a long time. He visited his hometown Jaipur on Wednesday for the promotions.

"Irrfan is looking forward to visiting Hyderabad for promoting 'Madaari'. On completing the promotional activities, the actor wants to visit the Charminar and also relish the delicacies of the city,” the actor's representative said in a statement.

The story of "Madaari" revolves around Irrfan's character, who abducts the home minister's son, against the backdrop of the loss of his own son, while the authorities led by Jimmy Sheirgill's character try to get hold of him.

After rendering romantic track "Jag Ghoomeya" in “Sultan”, superstar Salman Khan gave a special treat to his fans by releasing the title track of his forthcoming film in his voice.

Amid the controversy around Salman getting a track sung by singer Arijit Singh from “Sultan”, the actor had released the song “Jag ghoomeya” in his voice. Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has also crooned the song. 

On Thursday, the 50-year-old actor shared his version of the title track and captioned it: “One more koshish (attempt) to sing 'Sultan'. Sultan title track Salman version."

Salman has earlier crooned for films like "Hello Brother", "Kick" and "Hero".

Diva'ni, India’s first cinema-inspired fashion brand, will soon open its doors in Pakistan. The brand will launch its first international couture flagship store in Lahore next month.

Diva'ni was introduced to India in 2013 by Yash Raj Films and KBSH Private Limited, one of the largest heritage fashion houses based out of New Delhi. Now, the fashion house is taking Bollywood fashion across the border. The launch date is yet to be revealed.

Testosterone is a key male sex hormone involved in maintaining the sex urge. 

Testosterone levels decline as men age and some men develop low testosterone levels and symptoms of sexual dysfunction.

"Our findings indicate low testosterone is one cause contributing to reduced libido and erectile dysfunction in older men," said lead author Glenn R. Cunningham from Baylor College of Medicine in the US.

AirAsia India, as the official airline partner for "Kabali", has unveiled its all new rebranded aircraft, with a livery dedicated to Rajinikanth-starrer.

Actors Imran Khan, Kalki Koechlin, who were present at a screening of the short film "The Virgins", lavished praise on the film.

"The film was very enjoyable. It is actually on a very interesting subject. it is on a very relevant and a topical thing. The ones who have got married and the ones who have thought of getting married, I think that they will relate a lot to this film," Imran said.

"The Virgins" stars Akshay Oberoi, Pia Bajpai and Divyendu Sharma and the story is about the issue of virginity, where a virgin man is curious to know about the virginity of his would-be wife, who has a boyfriend and is not a virgin. The 19-minute film released on digital platforms on Thursday.

Veteran actor Jean Reno will be honoured by The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival with its President’s Award in the Czech Republic on July 4.

French film director Luc Besson’s “Leon” will be screened in tribute to the actor, whose credits also include “Ronin,” “Mission Impossible” and “The Da Vinci Code”, reports variety.com.

The festival will also host the European preem of Michael Shannon starrer “Complete Unknown,” directed by Joshua Marston (“Maria Full of Grace”) and produced by Jay Van Hoy. The trio will all be in attendance at the fest while U.S producer Jay Van Hoy will serve on the Karlovy Vary main jury.

Sleeping more or less than the average seven hours may increase the risk of developing diabetes in men, a new study warns.

The findings showed that men who slept the least and the most were more likely to have an impaired ability to process sugar compared to men who slept an average amount of about seven hours.

The men at either end of the spectrum had higher blood sugar levels than men who got the average amount of sleep.

Conversely, women who slept less or more than average were more responsive to the hormone insulin than women who slept the average amount.

As part of the upcoming Kerala Travel Mart 2016, a Spice Route Culinary Festival will be held in Kerala between September 23 and 26.

Men think women who wear make-up on are more "prestigious", while women think women with make-up on are more "dominant", reveals new research.

The findings suggest that make-up changes perceptions of status depending on who is making the judgement -- males or females.

The research is the first to report on how males and females perceive women who wear make-up differently.

"While both sexes agree that women with make-up look more attractive when it comes to 'high status', it really depends on who is looking," said researcher Viktoria Mileva, post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Stirling in Scotland.

Director Lom Harsh unveiled the first poster of his upcoming patriotic drama 'Yeh Hai India'.

Director Pa. Ranjith, who currently awaits the release of superstar Rajinikanth-starrer "Kabali", confirmed on Sunday that his next film will be with actor Suriya.

Talking to reporters at the audio launch of Telugu dubbed version of "Kabali", Ranjith said he'll be teaming up with Suriya next.

"After 'Kabali', I'll be working with Suriya sir. This project will go on the floors after he wraps up 'Singam 3'," he said.

Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon says she has "no filter" but doesn't mind as she'd rather be outspoken than have any "regrets".

Baseball player Nick Gordon has claimed that his late girlfriend Bobbi Kristina Brown struggled so much with her mother Whitney Houston's heartbreaking death, she even grew "terrified" of bathing.

Houston and her daughter both passed away after being found unconscious in a bathtub, just three years apart, and Gordon was there on both occasions.

"She (Bobbi Kristina) was too terrified to bathe alone after Whitney passed, we both were. It's why this is so messed up," Gordon told The Sun newspaper, reports mirror.co.uk. 

Bobbi Kristina spent six months fighting for her life in a coma after she was discovered face-down in a bathtub at the start of 2015.
