Her attackers included temple official and policemen that drugged and gang-raped her over days before finally killing her and dumping her body in nearby forest seven days later.

The 65th National Film Awards announced Amit V Masurkar's directorial 'Newton' as the awardee for the Best Hindi Film on Friday.

Thanking the jury for awarding "Newton", Masurkar said in a statement: "I hope this award and the film's commercial success creates a bigger space for relevant political cinema.

"This wouldn't have been possible without an incredible cast, crew, and the love and support from the people of Chhattisgarh where we shot the film."

Actor Pankaj Tripathi, who played the role of a CRPF officer in the film, won a Special Mention at the National Film Awards for his performance.

“Castle” Famed Stana Katic, Sarah Megan Thomas (Equity), and Bollywood Actress Radhika Apte are set to star in an untitled female-driven WW II spy drama set to begin this spring.

Linus Roache and Rossif Sutherland also have been cast in the project, based on the real-life spies in Winston Churchill’s “secret army”, from Thomas and Lydia Dean Pilcher (Queen of Katwe).

Radhika Apte confirmed the news on her social media account. She shared an info-link of the film, with the caption, “Next project :)”

The untitled film centers on British intelligence officer Vera Atkins, played by Katic, and two of the women she sends to France as spies, Virginia Hall (Thomas) and Noor Inayat Khan (Apte). Atkins is a crafty recruiter with a secret of her own. Hall is a daring American with a wooden leg who was the first female field agent and ultimately the spy the Nazi’s dubbed “the most dangerous of all,” and Khan is a pacifist of Indian descent who was the first female wireless operator. These civilian women form a sisterhood while entangled in missions to turn the tide of the war.

Thomas wrote the screenplay and will produce with Lydia Dean Pilcher (Queen of Katwe) who is set to direct.

Varun who is currently busy shooting for upcoming film 'Sui Dhaga' visited his fans after a screening of his released film 'October' on Friday.

While interacting with fans, Varun expressed the reason why he chose to do the film and a character like Dan he said, " October is the absolute truth of life, The film teaches you how to deal with life and death. Life is not always going to be rosy and I have shown the good part with my films li wanted to show the bad parts too. I give alot of credit to Banita for my acting she has done a fantastic job and the film is very close to my heart."

Talking about the drastic change in his character choice he said, he will continue to make people laugh and entertain, "I am very aware that people are used to seeing me in a certain way. Abhjit Masurkar interacted with along with actor Krishna Singh Bisht, co-writer of ‘Newton’ Mayank Tiwari and music composer Naren Chandavarkar after the announcement of 65th National film awards on Friday in Mumbai.

When asked Masurkar does he think that lead actor of ‘Newton’ Rajkummar Rao should have won some award at 65th National film awards, he said, “I definitely think Rajkummar (Rao) should have been awarded something. He has done a brilliant job not just in ‘Newton’ but also other films like ‘Trapped’ and ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’. He has done a lot of good work last year and it would have been great if also had gotten some award.”

Sharing his feeling after winning prestigious award of the country, Masurkar said, “It feels very good. We are very happy that ‘Newton’ got best Hindi film award. I want to thank audience jury and the whole team of ‘Newton’ for their love and support to our film. I am sure that we will be inspired to make more films the way we want to make after winning this award.

‘Newton’ was also India’s official entry for Oscar award last year but the film wasn’t able to win award at that platform so when asked Masurkar he still have any regrets of not winning an award at Oscars, he said, “In Oscar awards, countries from all over the world send their best film so there is tough competition. We tried but we weren’t able to win there but we are happy that we reached that platform.”

 After first declared as India’s official entry at Oscar awards  ‘Newton’ now received honor of best Hindi films at 65th National film awards so when asked Masurkar whether he is feeling pressure of expectation with his upcoming projects, he said,  “I don’t feel any kind of pressure as such because I enjoy my work. I always wanted to make films so I don’t take it as my responsibility but I take it as a gift. I am happy in the fact that people who work with believe in me and want to work with me which is a big thing for me.”

Actor Vinod Khanna, known for popular films like Amar Akbar Anthony, Qurbani, and the likes, succumbed to bladder cancer last year. He was 70 when he breathed his last.

Mr. Khanna, one of the biggest stars of Hindi films in the 1970s and 1980s, became the 49 recipients of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, and only the second actor to be named for the honor posthumously after Prithviraj Kapoor.

Sridevi was bestowed with Best Actor Award at 65th National Film Awards for her incredible performance in the film MOM. The actor was declared the winner posthumously. Sridevi played the role of a mother of a rape victim, who takes revenge from the rapists. Sridevi was lauded for her performance in the film directed by Ravi Udyawar.

Nowadays, there is sort of trend of making biopic on famous people’s life so when asked Sujoy whether he will interested in making biopic in future, he said, “No.. I hate biopics. I absolutely hate biopics. I will never touch a biopic because I am happy with what Vikrant (Massey) is and what is work is. I don’t want to know what he does in his personal life and how he came up here in this industry. I don’t have any kind of interest in that and what matters to me is the work of that person and this is my personal opinion and I could be completely wrong but I detest biopics”

Talking about his working experience with lead cast of ‘3 Paheliyan’, Sujoy said, “There are characters in a script and for that you need to form a visual and for that, you need an actor with acting capabilities and I feel actors are the persons who actually makes the film. I wrote it at certain level but they all took at very higher level. Filmmaking is a joint art as all of us have to work together to make a film and it is possible when you have that energy, feeling and happiness then you see something good onscreen so when I worked with these people I just had great time”

Sussanne Khan was interacting with media at the launch of Bespoke Home Jewels in which Sussanne joined hands with designer Minjal Jhaveri on Friday in Mumbai.

 Sussanne Khan runs India’s one of the top-most interior designing firm named ‘The Charcoal Project’, talking about her new venture ‘Bespoke Home Jewels’, Sussanne said, “I am really happy and in this project, I am working with Minjal Jhaveri. She has designed product collection which we are introducing in my ‘The Charcoal Project’ with semi-precious stone and I think it is apt for housing as well as it can be used for dining table and corporate gifting. We have beautiful collection because all the collection of stones holds certain kind of astrological importance. It is not just beautiful but it also got a meaning to it so we are very happy to have Minjal on board for this project.”

Recently, Shah Rukh Khan’s wife Gauri Khan also made her entry into the field of interior designing, so when asked Sussanne whether she feels competition is increasing in interior designing field as people from Bollywood are venturing into it, she said, “Gauri is my very good friend and there is no competition between us so, we all work together and all of that. I think in a film world and in the world of designing, you need to be together to grow and work in collaborations and associations, those are the things that work in a nice way”

When asked Sussanne whether her two sons Hridhaan and Hrehaan has inclination towards designing, she said, “No.. they don’t have clue about  designing. They are glued into their studies and sports right now.”

“It's quite seductive honestly, to be the bad guy on screen. According to me, every negative role clashes with your sensibilities and is quite empowering, to be bad, hence the conflict when portraying the negative side. It definitely is essential for the normal push and pull of the bad in every daily soap.”

  

While the audiences are engrossed in the intense murder scene on their TV screens, what goes behind is entirely a different vibe. Keith recalls his first day on the sets where they broke into laughter during a murder scene, “While shooting my first scene for the show, which had me kill my partner with a blade, we kept laughing through the shoot as it was a strange shot to portray. I did in fact watch the characterization of various villains in films to get into the skin of my character.”

Popular celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Kamal Haasan, Karan Johar, Adnan Sami and Sanjay Dutt have demanded swift justice for the eight-year-old girl, whose body was recovered from Rassana forest in Kathua district on January 17, a week after she went missing while grazing horses in the forest area.

She was held captive inside a temple, and was sedated before being repeatedly raped and murdered.

The celebrities have demanded severe punishment for the "horrifying" crime.

Priyanka Chopra: How many more children like baby Asifa will be sacrificed at the intersect of religion and politics? How many more children will have to suffer unimaginable crimes before we wake up? I'm disgusted. It's time for swift action. We owe it to Asifa and to humanity.

Kamal Haasan: Does it have to be your own daughter for you to understand? She could've been mine. I feel angry as a man, father and a citizen for failing Asifa. I am sorry my child we didn't make this country safe enough for you. I will fight for justice at least for future kids like you. We mourn you and won't forget you.

Twinkle Khanna: I look at this first as a mother and it's completely heartbreaking. As a woman I feel rage and as an Indian I am absolutely ashamed!

Karan Johar: Inhuman! Appalling! Justice has to has to be served! Asifa.

Anupam Kher: Shocked, saddened and angry! Sorry Asifa.

Sanjay Dutt: We have failed as a society! Being a father, I am shaken and filled with anger reading about what happened to a eight-year-old kid. My heart goes out to Asifa's family. I refuse to accept we really let this happen. Justice has to be served now.

Anushka Sharma: The cruelest form of evil is harming an innocent child. What is happening to the world we live in? These people should be given the most severe punishment there is! Where are we heading as humanity? Shaken to my core.

‘October’ revolves around unconditional love between character of Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu, talking about film, Shoojit said, “The word ‘unconditional’ is used like a jargon nowadays, but what is that unconditional love? In October, I’ve tried to create a situation where we can really experience what it means. There are some very small but significant references in the film. Juhi Chaturvedi (the writer of October) and my writing process is such that we work on a thought and borrow elements from our life experiences to explain and elaborate that thought.”

“The idea was there with me from 2004. It is an intensely personal story. A few things happened in my life, which I can talk about once the film is released. Once you have experienced the film, we can talk about it. So, it stayed with me since then, and then we worked on it. There is no definition to love. It is a feeling. So, I say feel October, experience October.”

‘October’ revolves around Dan (Varun Dhawan), a student of hotel management is an intern at a top hotel in Delhi along with his batch mates. An incident occurs at the hotel where one of his colleagues Shiuli (Banita Sandhu), lands up at the hospital. This affects Dan far deeply than he ever imagined, and thereon, he embarks on an emotional journey where he seeks answers and love in the strangest of circumstances.

Prabhu Deva - It’s a new genre and I am playing negative character in it.  I am excited for it because first time I am playing a different role so I am looking forward to reactions from audience. I hope people loves this film and it should do good business at the box-office.

Tamannaah - I have worked with Prabhu (Prabhu Deva) sir and I think I am lucky to train under him when he is choreographer, actor or director. He is such a multi-talented person. This film’s concept is really new because it’s a silent film and it’s in thriller space. I just saw‘Quiet Place’ and this hasn’t attempted by anyone in India so I am quite excited for it. I guess, all the characters in this film are not able to hear and speak which would be very interesting to watch. I think such films don’t need a language and I feel that’s the plus point of this film. Actors like me and Prabhu sir has such a North Indian connect but there are certain films which come our way where language is not a barrier because subject itself is a strong point so I am looking forward to see how Prabhu sir has done it.

In the video, Ishaan is dancing to tunes of Muqabla and he is doing a shadow dance for Malavika Mohanan and a little girl in the film. Needless to say, Ishaan is a versatile dancer and doesn’t miss a single beat.

Beyond the Clouds is a drama film written and directed by Majid Majidi and the original score composed by A. R. Rahman. The film stars Ishaan Khatter and Malavika Mohanan in the lead roles.

The film story is centered on a brother-sister relationship. Further, it focuses on the siblings' bond, on human relationships in general. The film is a grown-up version of Majidi's previously directly Children of Heaven (1997) set in Mumbai. The film premiered at the 2017 BFI London Film Festival. The film is produced by Zee Studios and Namah Pictures.

The maker of the film is out with soulful and fun track Bachche Ki Jaan Loge Kya from Umesh Shukla directorial 102 Not Out, which portrays the relationship between the 102-year-old father and his 75-year-old son on the silver screen.

“102 Not Out” is an ageless comedy that brings together Indian Cinema’s two biggest stalwarts-Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor after 27 years, with the two legends playing father-son duo for the first time.

102 years young Dattatraya Vakharia (Amitabh Bachchan) lives life to the fullest and wants to break the record of oldest living man- that’s held by a 118 years old Chinese. Dattatraya wants to live a stress-free life in order to become the oldest living man. However, there is only one hindrance- his 75-year-old son Babulal (Rishi Kapoor) who has resigned himself to a life of old age stuck in drudgery.

This time when he went to Wai he had 2 things on his itinerary one was to shoot for Karan Johar’s patriotic film Kesari, But once he had taken off his turban, the actor got started on the second thing that was on his mind. Accompanied by some members of his team, he headed to Pimpode Budruk, which is located in Koregaon Tehsil in Satara, Maharashtra, and helped the locals with water harvesting.

A source said, “Besides donating `25 lakh to the villagers to get them to begin work on water harvesting, Akshay traveled there yesterday to work with them. He helped them dig huge recharge pits to store water that could later be harvested.”

Apparently, this hamlet, which has a population of around 10,000 people, has been facing a severe drought situation, though some of the other villages located in the same vicinity have been more fortunate with the water supply situation.

When asked Abhay will this clash of films affect ‘Nanu Ki Jaanu’, he said, “I hope all films do well and I think it is possible. We have audience in numbers. People are aware of these films which are releasing on Friday so if you market your film well then, they will go to watch your film. After that, a film will pave its own way through word of mouth. Marketing will serve a purpose to bring attention and awareness then, the film to do well depends upon the quality of it. I believe we have enough audience to sustain 4-5 films at a time."

Talking about Ishaan's film 'Beyond The Clouds', Abhay said, “I am a big fan of Majid Majidi films so I am looking forward to his film (Beyond the Clouds). I want people to know that he is really talented and humble filmmaker and we are releasing our film along with his film. When asked to reveal some details about his character in ‘Nanu Ki Jaanu’, Abhay said, and “My character name is ‘Nanu’ He comes from a criminal background. He forcefully takes over people’s house in low rates and sells it to higher prices and one day, a female ghost comes in his life because of her he is not able to do his criminal activities. From criminal, he becomes a scared man. I think in that, there is comedy and redemption for that character.”

When asked about casting couch in Bollywood, as Arshi has worked in “Bigg Boss” reality show, the actress denied and defended the show and host Salman Khan.

She said, “I don’t think it exists in Industry! Today some girl asked me this question, did it happened in Bigg Boss as well? Some Pakistani girl asked me whether Bigg Boss is a pious show. Well, the show which is hosted by Salman Khan will always be a pure and pious show. I haven’t seen any such demand from anyone within the Industry, people who are actually doing good work.”

Sudhir Mishra interacted with media at launch of new cuisine and bar menu at Drinkery 51 restaurant on Wednesday in Mumbai.

There have been constant media reports that there is cold war between lead actress of ‘Daas Dev’ Richa Chadha and Aditi Rao Hydari and that’s the reason they are not coming together to promote their film, reacting to those reports, Mishra said, “Today’s actresses are different. It is not way media perceive them like yesteryear actress who used to fight during a film. They are professional actress, hope best for each other and celebrate success of each other.”

Sudhir Mishra is known for creating strong female characters through his films so when asked Mishra whether he thinks that work environment for women has improved in the film industry over the years, he said, “There are two types of industries. First one is working industry which includes production houses and filmmakers who are continuously making movies for last 5-6 years and in that section, atmosphere and environment for working women in film industry has definitely changed. There are lots of things on which we can be improved and in that, we all have to contribute towards it. Ideal industry is such where women are safe, secure and they get equal amount of remuneration and respect along with their male counterparts be it cameraperson, actor or filmmaker. I think we should create safe and welcoming environment for them to showcase their potential and if you see larger picture right now, it is not the case and we have to work towards that but again, I would say that in working industry that’s situation is much better as compared to previous period.”

Talking about ‘Daas Dev’ rap song which features Sudhir Mishra and Saurabh Shukla, Mishra said, “It’s done by me and Saurabh Shukla. It gives idea about story and character of the film. Our film is political thriller. It will take audience on emotional and thrilling ride. It’s a story about intoxication of power and alcohol but its reverse journey from Daas to Dev from the original novel of Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s ‘Devdas’. Through the songs of the film, we are trying to break the myth that our film is not similar to earlier films which was based on ‘Devdas’. Its story of strong characters of Paro and Dev and how they overcome intoxication of power in the film. In general, we see that there are fixers in game of politics and in our film, there is dialogue that you can fix a business and relations but it is not easy to fix love.”

Abhay Deol is known for being choosy when it comes to work in films. Abhay Deol last seen in ‘Haapy Bhag Jayegi’ which released in 2016 and in 2018, he is featuring in ‘Nanu Ki Jaanu’ when asked Abhay whether he has become super choosy for choice of films, he said, “I have been always choosy about it but I try not to take long breaks in between my two films but it happens sometimes especially because I don’t work in formula films and films which excite me are being made in less numbers. Therefore, it takes so much time between release of two films but since last year, I have been busy as I shoot for 5 films and in this year also, I will be shooting for 2-3 films.”

“Lately, I have noticed that people are thinking differently while making their films and taking big chances with it. When I was doing different of kind films at that time, people were open to that kind of films because multiplexes were being made and it had that kind of exposure for the films but when the number of opening a multiplex declined then distribution of that kind of films also got affected. Now, digital platform has made its entry and I think people who belong to digital platform must be saying to makers to create certain kind of content and not to follow star image as they want to create certain image of their own because that, there is sense excitement in the industry so hopefully, audience will lot more of me in future”

It’s like thinking universe revolves around earth but it’s not that, earth revolve the sun.”
