Vinod Khanna And Sridevi Honored With National Film Awards

The 65 National Awards honored two actors posthumously this year — #Sridevi has conferred the Best Actress Award for her last film Mom, and Indian cinema’s highest honor, the Dada Saheb Phalke Award, was given to actor #VinodKhanna.

Actor Vinod Khanna, known for popular films like Amar Akbar Anthony, Qurbani, and the likes, succumbed to bladder cancer last year. He was 70 when he breathed his last.

Mr. Khanna, one of the biggest stars of Hindi films in the 1970s and 1980s, became the 49 recipients of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, and only the second actor to be named for the honor posthumously after Prithviraj Kapoor.

Sridevi was bestowed with Best Actor Award at 65th National Film Awards for her incredible performance in the film MOM. The actor was declared the winner posthumously. Sridevi played the role of a mother of a rape victim, who takes revenge from the rapists. Sridevi was lauded for her performance in the film directed by Ravi Udyawar.

Among winners are “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion” and Rajkummar Rao-starrer Newton too.
Oscar-winning music composer A. R. Rahman swept the Music Direction category by winning the Best Songs award for the Tamil film Kaatru Veliyidai and the Best Background Music for Mom.
