From her fellow contestants to judges, she made everyone on the sets of #MasterChefAustralia fall in love with "desi" spices. #NidhiMahajan, whose exit from the globally-renowned TV cooking show was an emotional affair, says Indian cuisine goes way beyond the misconceptions that people across the world have about it.

"I would love to tell people that there is nothing as massive as Indian cuisine and each dish, each ingredient, has a history behind it and how it became a part of our cuisine," Nidhi told in an email interview from Adelaide.

"Indian food has made its place on the global platform. People around the world love Indian food for its flavours and versatility," added the former call centre employee, whose roots are in Chandigarh.

She found her way into Season Eight of "MasterChef Australia", which is aired in India on Star World and Star World HD, for her expertise in traditional Indian cooking. She entered the kitchen with a mission to put the "desi" style of cooking on the global map.

Day Three at the Lakme Fashion Week #LFW Winter/Festive 2016, ended with a collection presented by Reliance Trends from Delhi's popular designer, Rajesh Pratap Singh with the beautiful actress #JacquelineFernandez looking no less than a diva adorning his showstopper design on ramp.

Going Indian for his inspiration, Singh called his collection 'The Punjabi Suit' and gave it some high tech futuristic treatment. Making a show stopping entry was Jacqueline in a shimmering jacket, simple shirt, crimped crushed flouncy skirt over cropped pants.

"It was really fun walking for the designer. I am a huge fan of his work. He makes elegant, chic yet wearable clothes and I can wear these designs every single day. I am honoured to be here," said the actress at the post show conference area.

However, the designs were no where close to the humble Punjabi outfit that are seen in the fields of the state. 

Socialite #ParisHilton feels people have a lot of misconceptions about her, and says she loves to prove them wrong.

"I messaged him about the film and told him that I want to cast him in this lawyer's role and said I think he should be part of it. Amitabh Bachchan is an intelligent actor. He just heard five minutes of the narration and said let's shoot," he said.

Talking about the script the "Vicky Donor" helmer said, "Ritiesh (Shah) is the spine of the script. The casting of the girls was not hard but to define the characters was difficult. How to conceive the characters and how a working girl in Delhi faces different situations, how a lawyer argues in session court, all these things had to be created. I would give all credits to the writer."

Bollywood actor #ShahidKapoor and his wife #MiraRajput on Friday welcomed their first child, a daughter, with utmost joy.

Shahid took to Twitter to share the news with his fans.

Your love for green tea might save you from abdominal aortic rupture -- a deadly condition of the main artery of the body that often turns out to be a silent killer, researchers say.

The findings showed that green tea polyphenol, which is a major component of green tea, can help in preventing the abdominal aortic aneurysm -- a condition in which the main artery becomes overstretched and bloated. 

In the study, the team treated rats with enzymes that induce abdominal aortic aneurysm and found that the condition developed less frequently in rats that drank green tea polyphenol. 

"Abdominal aortic aneurysms often go unnoticed because there are no symptoms until they burst," says Kenji Minakata from Kyoto University in Japan.

Information and Broadcasting Minister #MVenkaiahNaidu on Wednesday unveiled the poster of the first #BRICSFilmFestival to be held here.

The festival, which is a part of the special events planned in run-up to the 8th BRICS Summit being held in India, will take place at Siri Fort Auditorium Complex from September 2-6.

The poster was unveiled in the presence of Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Directorate of Film Festivals Senthil Rajan, among others.

"India is preparing to host the 8th BRICS Summit, during its chairmanship which is scheduled to take place on October 15-16 in Goa. Director #ShyamJoshi’s forthcoming film #Kaluwa will go on floors on 28th August.

Speaking about his film, the director said, “The title Kaluwa is inspired by the biggest love icon Lord Krishna. Krishna is called as ‘Kaluwa’. My script is about feudal age. Even in today, there are many places in India where the feudal laws are still implemented, where people are still under ‘Thakur’s raaj and law and order does not reach to the last man.”

Love at first sight is a myth -- and lovers need to meet at least four times before Cupid's arrow strikes their hearts, said a study.

The findings showed that people often find themselves drawn to individuals after multiple encounters, even when there was no initial attraction.

"Cupid's arrow is often slow to strike. It may be attributable to the gradual change in attractiveness from repetition," Ravi Thiruchselvam, Psychologist at Hamilton College in New York, was quoted as saying by dailystar.co.uk on Sunday.

Job dissatisfaction among people in their late 20s and 30s can have poor overall health and emotional problems by the time they reach early 40s, warn researchers.

The findings showed that mental health was most affected by one's feelings about their jobs.

"We found that there is a cumulative effect of job satisfaction on health that appears as early as your 40s," said lead author Jonathan Dirlam, doctoral student at The Ohio State University, in the US.

People who were less happy with their work early in their careers were more depressed and worried and also had more trouble sleeping.

The research revealed that those with low job satisfaction and downward trending careers had more problems like back pain and frequent colds compared to the ones with high satisfaction group. 

Actor #SushantSinghRajput has ended up with an injury while shooting for the last schedule of his upcoming film #Raabta.

The 30-year-old actor was performing a daring stunt when a ligament in his right knee tore five days ago.

He says the slippery ground where he had to perform the stunts caused him the injury.

"We practiced a lot and I could do the stunt properly everytime, but unfortunately on the day of the shoot it was pouring and the ground was slippery. That caused the injury. I am glad that we could still finish the scene as planned," Sushant said in a statement. 

#NagaChaitanya-starrer Telugu romantic drama #Premam, the eponymous remake of #Malayalamblockbuster, which was earlier scheduled to release on September 9, has been deferred by a month.

"The film will hit the screens during Dussehra festival in October. The original plan was to release in September; however, it has been postponed to make way for the release of Chaitanya's other film 'Sahasam Swasaga Sagipo'," a source from the film's unit told.

Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, the film tracks three different stages of romance in the life of its protagonist.

#Belgianjazzmusician #TootsThielemans, known as one of the world's best harmonica players, has passed away at the age of 94 after a long career.

Thielemans -- whose real name was Jean-Baptiste Frederic Isidore Thielemans -- died in his sleep at a hospital in Brussels early on Monday, said his manager Veerle Van de Poel, reports theguardian.com.

Born in 1922, Thielemans got his big break when he joined the American swing musician Benny Goodman on a European tour in 1950 before moving to the US, where he teamed up with artists such as Charlie Parker, Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra.

"Earlier, we (music composers and lyricists at large) couldn't say a few things in the songs because we were more shy then, or let's say we used to be rosy in a love song. Now we find that artificial," Sachin told in an email interview from Mumbai.

"The Hindi (music) industry has learnt to become more honest and naughty. Both in song writing and lyrics, we have learnt to appreciate a more honest approach.

Higher intake of citrus fruits like oranges and lemons can help keep you healthy as well as prevent harmful effects of obesity-related heart disease, liver disease and diabetes, a study has found.

Citrus fruits contain large amounts of antioxidants, a class of which are called flavanones. 

When humans consume a high-fat diet, they accumulate fat in their bodies. Fat cells produce excessive reactive oxygen species, which can damage cells in a process called oxidative stress. 

These oxidative stress coupled with inflammation in obese individuals increases the risk of developing heart disease, liver disease and diabetes, the researchers said.

According to the researchers, pornography is associated with a substantial increase in the probability of divorce for married people and this increase is especially large for women.

"Beginning pornography use nearly doubled one's likelihood of being divorced, from six per cent to 11 per cent and nearly tripled it for women -- from six per cent to 16 per cent," said Samuel Perry, led author and assistant professor of sociology at the University of Oklahoma.

"Our results suggest that viewing pornography, under certain social conditions, may have negative effects on marital stability," he said.

"Salman Bhai was there while the narration was going on. He was happy with the script and was keen to do a role in the film. But this film doesn't allow to fit him into a character because of his larger than life image. And 'Freaky Ali' might have got disturbed by Salman Bhai's grand image,” Nawazuddin said in an interview.

"Once Sohail Bhai described me Freaky Ali's one line, I was interested. Then he started to work on the script. When we wrote a script keeping an actor in mind, it made easier to structure a story. This is how 'Freaky Ali' started,” he added.

Indian coins in various denominations got a chic twist when a designer from #ArunachalPradesh presented them as #fashionaccessories at the ongoing North East India Fashion Week #NEIFW.

Coins form an integral part of tribal jewellery, but not everyone gets to see them on fashion runways -- Jewellery designer Renu Logum, however, made it happen on Saturday at the NEIFW, held in the capital of Arunachal Pradesh.

A dispute over salary between actor #TomCruise and production banner Paramount Pictures has reportedly halted pre-production on the upcoming sixth installment of popular #MissionImpossible series.

Those old adults who have family members closer to them are less likely to die early than those who have friends around them, a study has found.

"We found that older individuals who had more family in their network, as well as older people who were closer with their family were less likely to die," said James Iveniuk, the lead author of the study.

"No such associations were observed for number of or closeness to friends," Iveniuk, who is also a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Toronto's Dalla Lana School of Public Health, added.

Associate sociology professor Julie Brines and doctoral candidate Brian Serafini found what is believed to be the first quantitative evidence of a seasonal, biannual pattern of filings for divorce.

The researchers analysed filings in Washington state between 2001 and 2015 and found that they peaked in March and August -- the periods following winter and summer holidays.

"The distinction, which is yet another laurel for the actor, is in recognition of his high level of artistic excellence and his distinguished career achievements. The award will be conferred on Kamal Haasan at a special ceremony," read a statement from Haasan.

The award is presented "to recognize eminent artists and writers, as well as people who have contributed significantly to furthering the arts in France and throughout the world."

Other Indian recipients of the award include late Tamil actor Sivaji Ganeshan, #AmitabhBachchan, #AishwaryaRaiBachchan, #NanditaDas and #ShahRukhKhan.

Actress #ShayMitchell loves to wear swimsuits because they make her feel "sexier".

"I think they're great. When I'm on vacation I like to eat a lot and have a couple cocktails so I don't want to have to worry about squeezing into a two-piece. And I think a one-piece is just, I don't know. I enjoy them. I think now with all the different styles and designs, there is so much to choose from and I think they're almost even sexier in a way," Mitchell told people.com.
