Save skin during monsoon, avoid smokey eyes

Waterproof cosmetics may be available in the market and probably even get the job done, but most of these products are chemical-based. Options like aromatherapy and other natural skin care solutions can save your skin better during the monsoon, say experts.

save-skin-during-monsoon-avoid-smokey-eyes
Sonia Mathur, beauty expert and training head at Organic Harvest and Amit Sarda, Managing Director at Soulflower have listed a few tips:

* During monsoon, people with oily skin must use astringent. People with dry to normal skin can use a toner, which is ideal just after washing face with cold water. This works well to open the pores of skin and remove all pollutants from the face.

* A good moisturising face mask just before going to bed helps in getting rid of dry skin.

* Rain brings added moisture, and with it, skin issues. It is very important, therefore, to keep it clean. However, instead of using harsh soaps, try using natural oils to nourish it instead. A variety of oils have antimicrobial properties, like neem oil, which will benefit the skin in the long run.

Pick the right fabric to wear in monsoon

The first step to decode #monsoon_dressing is choosing the right fabric or the post-rain humidity will kill the vibe. Experts suggests that one can opt for something that's not too sheer yet is light on the skin.

pick-right-fabric-to-wear-in-monsoon
Tanvi Malik, CEO and Co-founder of e-commerce brand FabAlley, Natasha Tate, in-house stylist of Limeroad, and Ritika Taneja, Director and Business Head - Fashion, ShopClues, have shared tips on the right fabrics that one can opt for during the monsoon season:

* Cotton: Cotton is an excellent material for the humid climate as it allows air to flow in and around the skin, creating a cooling effect while keeping you dry.

* Rayon: This fabric can feel like silk yet is similar to cotton and linen in its cool and airy construction. It does not trap body heat and absorbs moisture easily.

* Chambray: Chambray is a great choice for monsoon because it breathes beautifully. It is light, summery and doesn't stick to the body.

* Denim: Denim is the perfect material for every season and if you want to wear it right this monsoon, there is nothing better than ripped denim shorts. Pick a faded pair and work it up with your graphic tees. For footwear, a pair of jelly flip-flops will surely get you rain-ready. Complete the look with a bright coloured waterproof backpack.

Daley, who helped create the initial visuals, or the blue print, of the film, has "Cars-ified" the Indian rickshaw, read a statement.

Daley added: "However, they weren't that ornate so I decided to put a little more detailing but not get too crazy because I was trying to make it simple and storyboard type of drawing.

"So, I did a lot of research on these awesome Indian rickshaws on the internet and it was very important to decide where to put the face; the eyes and the mouth.

"Some of these rickshaws had a boxy feel or a blank spot in the front where the handle bars were and I just chose that place to put the eyes and the mouth."

tips-to-keep-body-odour-away-this-summer
Shikhee Agrawal, Head Training, The Body Shop, and Rohit Kumar Agrawal, Founder, Perfumebooth.com, tells how to say no to body odour.

♦ Ensure general hygiene: Upholding the general sanitation becomes extremely essential in summer which one can ensure by bathing twice a day and mixing antibacterial soap drops in water which will not only help you clean those surplus bacteria and germs off the skin but will also make you feel refreshed even at odd hours.

♦ Mingling some antiperspirant with deodorizer: A deodorant covers the strong smell of sweating but one also needs an antiperspirant to control the extreme sweat during the day. A combination of antiperspirant and deodorizer can do wonders for your skin by making a stoppage for excessive release of sweating.

♦ Monsoon dos: Try out a shorter hairstyle, a hot oil massage once a week is a good option as it keeps the hair nourished.

Tips to get textured jewellery right

#Textured_jewellery -- embossed or engraved -- can be paired well with summer and winter outfits. The play of textures adds distinctive dimensions to jewellery that can transform your outfit with just one single piece, say experts.

tips-to-get-textured-jewellery-right
Sreenivas Reddy, Principal Designer at BlueStone.com, and Pallavi Foley, a designer and jewellery expert, share some points to keep in mind while buying textured jewellery.

♦Types of textures: Patterns for texture on jewellery depends on the creativity of the designer. Textured jewellery can be both visually appealing and physically stimulating.

There are several types of methods to add texture to jewellery pieces, such as the embossing and engraving methods, hammering, the sandpaper effect, all these add the extra something to jewellery pieces, making them stand out. Hammered jewellery is a beautiful piece of art which reminiscent of the surface of antique metal objects. It has both, a traditional as well as modern approach to jewellery making.

♦The care for textured jewellery: Clean your textured jewellery regularly as it is prone to accumulating dust in the groves and delicate patterns. Caring for your jewellery does not always entail cleaning, but involves checking the pieces regularly to ensure their condition and maintenance. It would be suitable to use the original cases in which the jewellery was bought to maintain its novelty by protecting it from chemical reactions in its environment, which can tarnish the texture.

♦ The one thing that is an absolute must for every person who dreams of naturally glowing skin is drinking an ample amount of water to hydrate yourself at all points of time. Also, you can opt for rose tea which is perfect to give you that natural glow and hydration.

♦ Always carry a pack of face wipes. Keeping your face cleansed, toned and hydrated with facial wipes at regular intervals prevents your skin from clogging up in the long run and keeps you fresh all the time.

♦ During the rains, all your skin really needs is to breathe. The use of excessive make-up prevents that from happening. Your ultimate motto for the monsoons should be - less is more.

Designer #Abhinav_Mishra, who has opened a new bridal store Leela here, says bridal wear is the primary market for India and the segment is gaining recognition the world over.

"In the Indian fashion industry, I see bridal wear as the primary market. We Indians are sentimental towards our traditions and this sentiment keeps the bridal wear market a steady and consistent one. This segment is growing steadily and we are gaining recognition the world over," Mishra told.

Mishra's new store at Shahpur Jat here focuses on bridal wear and is a move to expand into this area. Known for his cut mirror-work and dreamy silhouettes, he is growing his label into territories across India and internationally.

Asked how easily a designer's creation is copied in the local market with majority of them making replicas of bridal wear, he said: "Replication has always been a part of the fashion industry, and now social media has made it even easier.

"It has never had a very markable impact on the design market and shall not in the future as long as designers take out authentic, new design solutions for the masses. I personally use this as inspiration to do better with each season and create newer and original products.

"Ultimately, quality is what counts and you get that from the original designer and discerning fashion buyers will always remain mindful about that," he added.

Childhood cancer treatment may affect short-term memory

Children exposed to #cancer_treatment such as chemotherapy are likely to have decreased cognitive flexibility and a weaker short-term memory, researchers say.

childhood-cancer-treatment-may-affect-short-term-memory
The results show that cognitive functions which are slow developing or mature during adolescence -- in particular short-term memory -- are very vulnerable to the chemotherapy treatment.

However, cognitive functions such as long-term memory and the ability to concentrate remain largely unaffected as they develop before the treatment.

"Tests that require quick switching between tasks or remembering new information for a short amount of time were clearly more difficult for former cancer patients. The developmental stage of the brain at the start of the cancer treatment probably plays a decisive role," Rudi D'Hooge, Professor at the University of Leuven in Belgium.

For the study, the team examined 31 young adults who underwent chemotherapy as a child, on average around the age of six and a half.

Neha Chopra, an interior designer from UrbanClap, and Nelofar Currimbhoy, President of Shahnaz group of companies, share some tips:

* Space: If space is a constraint, rule out tri-fold mirrors and full wall vanities. Consider vanities with folding storage or vanities with full-length mirror cabinets. The latter has the added advantage of being easy to move around the house as needed.

* Lighting: Since make-up is all about playing with how the light falls on your face, bright lighting is necessary to make the best use of your vanity. For this reason, most people tend to have separate lights just for their vanity.
