Indian rickshaw gets animated twist

#Cars3 story artist #Michael_Daley gave a twist to the Indian rickshaw in sync with the Hollywood film as part of the film's promotional activity. He says he had fun researching about the 'awesome' Indian three-wheeler.

Daley, who helped create the initial visuals, or the blue print, of the film, has "Cars-ified" the Indian rickshaw, read a statement.

"I thought it's pretty interesting to make a 'Cars' character out of a rickshaw," he said.

He has never been to India, and he took inspiration from rickshaws that he saw in California.

Daley added: "However, they weren't that ornate so I decided to put a little more detailing but not get too crazy because I was trying to make it simple and storyboard type of drawing.

"So, I did a lot of research on these awesome Indian rickshaws on the internet and it was very important to decide where to put the face; the eyes and the mouth.

"Some of these rickshaws had a boxy feel or a blank spot in the front where the handle bars were and I just chose that place to put the eyes and the mouth."

Daley found it interesting to get acquainted about how the rickshaws work.
"It sent me down a huge hole of research on how the handlebars attached to the wheels, the carriage at the back; so looking at all of that I had to do a very simplified version to get the basic idea across without getting too crazy complicated so it was really fun to do research on," he added.

"Cars 3" is the third part in the "Cars" franchise. The first one came out in 2006 and the second in 2011.

Disney-Pixar's "Cars 3" infuses life into a fantasy world of cars where they are not just metal bodies, but talk and feel like humans. It narrates the story of racing car Lighting McQueen.

Actors like Owen Wilson, Cristela Alonzo, Chris Cooper, Nathan Dillon, Dan Whitney and Kerry Washington are voice talents in the film, which released in India on Friday.
