Get rid of acne with basic steps

You can use cosmetics to cover up some facial flaws, but if you have acne on your face, you can't completely hide it. Washing your face with mild cleanser and keeping hair spray and styling gel away from your skin can help you in a big way, says an expert.

get-rid-of-acne-with-basic-steps
Karuna Malhotra, Cosmetologist from Cosmetic Skin and Homeo Clinic, lists steps that one should follow religiously to get rid of acne.

* Wash your face with mild cleanser only once or twice a day with lukewarm water. Avoid scrubbing or using harsh abrasive products. Also, make sure one that you are washing your face in the evening to remove makeup and dirt.

* Some patients will squeeze acne in an attempt to try to open up a clogged pore. However, this usually leads to further inflammation, which makes the acne look worse and last longer. Please don't squeeze it and use Benzoyl Peroxide or Salicylic acid face wash with a balanced PH for acne patients. This will also shrink the acne eruption gradually.

Art and Science blend for Swedish artists Lundahl and Seitl

#Christer_Lundahl and #Martina_Seitl are on a mission to break the barriers of time, distance and space and connect people across the world through their ‘Unknown Cloud’.

art-and-science-blend-for-lundahl-seitl
The Unknown Could is a reflection of projects the Swedish duo have recently developed over smart phones, involving large groups of the public in an interplay between physical and virtual spaces, traditional and social media.

“I know it is hard to achieve. But we are developing a technology through which people, though from the different continents, can communicate with the help of ‘unknown cloud’ as the medium,” Seitl said at a ‘Let’s Talk’ held on the sidelines of Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2016.

Poetry Session at KMB 2016 echoes lines of Chilean Poet Raul Zurita

The Biennale Pavilion in Cabral Yard, Fort Kochi, reverberated with soulful renditions from legendary Chilean poet #Raúl_Zurita as he recited his early work ‘Song for His Disappeared Love’, which is both a poignant and subtly trenchant response to Augusto Pinochet’s 1973 brutal military coup in the South American nation.

poetry-session-at-kmb-2016-echoes-raul-zurita
He was among six poets participating in an event, ‘An Evening of Poetry with Biennale Artists’, held on the sidelines of Kochi-Muziris Biennale (KMB) 2016. Ouyang Jianghe, Sergio Chejfec, Sharmistha Mohanty, Valerie Mejer Caso and AleÅ¡ Å teger were the other artists who recited their poems during the event.

Ouyang Jianghe, a celebrated poet from China, started with one of his famous works ‘Taj Mahal Tears’. The rendition amplified the plight of the Ganga and the Taj Mahal, which is a strong and vibrant poetic reaction against modernity.

Argentinean poet Chejfec recited ‘Simple Language’. “We all are immigrants to languages. Every writer dreams to wield a simple language,” he said.

Mohanty read a poem that was in tune with curator Sudarshan Shetty’s vision for KMB 2016: ‘Forming in the pupil of an eye’.

Kochi-based MobME, which initially focused on providing mobility and related solutions to telecom operators, has expanded its range of technology to cater to needs of clients in e-commerce, airlines, BFSI and retail sectors, through its core verticals.

Curating the Biennale has been a learning process: Sudarshan Shetty

The evolution of Sudarshan Shetty’s curatorial vision for Kochi-Muziris Biennale (KMB) 2016 and its relationship to his artistic practice formed the basis of an erudite conversation between Shetty and eminent philosopher Sundar Sarukkai here.

curating-biennale-has-been-learning-process
Terming his curatorial impulse – as also the Biennale – a ‘work in progress’, Shetty noted that the twin processes of ‘gathering’ and ‘erasure’ were the event’s primary agencies and not his instincts as an artist. “It would be a disaster if I was to introduce myself into this mix,” he said.

Shetty prefers to see himself as a facilitator instead, going with the flow as KMB 2016 changes organically over its duration and perhaps beyond. “I thought to side-step the image of an artist-curator as a creator or agent of knowledge and culture and become a presenter, bringing about this conversation between different art streams and traditions,” he said.

Things to keep in mind for bridal shoe shopping

Keep the length of your outfit in mind and choose comfort over style when you go on #bridal_shoe_shopping spree, says an expert.

things-to-keep-in-mind-for-bridal-shoe-shopping
Sudatta Bhattacharya, Styling Expert at ShaadiSaga.com - an online wedding planning platform and Yuvraj Singh and actress Hazel Keech's official online wedding planning partners -- has listed down some important points.

* Heels vs flats: Ask yourself if you are comfortable walking in heels? Do you need to add extra height to match your groom? Or will you be at more ease in flats? These will give you a clear idea of what you should be looking for. Another important thing to remember is the kind of venue you have for your wedding functions. If you have an outdoor wedding function, you should probably opt for wedges or flats because stilettos might dig deep inside sand/grass.

* Length of the outfit you are wearing: Ideally, the heel size (inches) should be almost equal to the extra length of lehenga that you would have kept during the final trials and fittings. It's best to stick with gold and silver so that you are able to reuse them later.

* Comfort over style: There's a high chance that you will fall in love with the pair of shoes that look absolutely stunning but might not be comfortable to walk in. Remember that at the end of the day it's you who have to wear those shoes. You will be the one who will have to stand for photographs, walk around here and there, and dance a bit too! So, wobbling around your heels which are way high or uncomfortable for you wouldn't be a good idea at all.

Add glamour to your winter outfits with embroidery

#Embroidery is a great form of embellishment on any clothing styles. So this winter, experiment with these details on denims, leather jackets, boots and many others and lift up the look of your attire, says an expert.

add-glamour-to-your-winter-outfits-with-embroidery
Yashodhara Shroff, Director and founder of online shopping store Styletag, shares five ways to incorporate embroidery into your wardrobe.

* On denim: Colourful embroidery on denim jackets, pants and bags stands out with great vigour and never fails to impress. If you're looking to experiment and love a pop of colour anytime of the day, these are perfect for you. Classroom doodle embroidery is great on western styles and floral on Indian styles.

* On leather: One could take their pick from an A- line leather skirt, a leather jacket, bags or pants. If you're looking for subtle detailing or a full-on embroidered piece, switching to embroidered leather in the form of a jacket or a practical shopping bag is a wise move to make.

* On skirts: Nothing makes a statement like a perfect A-line embroidered skirt. Subtle and appealing embroidery on skirts is a class act as opposed to anything else. One can never go wrong with a detailed embroidered skirt when paired with a crisp white shirt. Splurge on some intricately detailed skirts as they will never go out of style.

Being thick and oily, men's skin is difficult to clean and suffers the daily trauma of facial shaving and then has to deal with harsh winter which dries and bruises it. Follow these tips by Rohit Chawla, Co-Founder and CEO of The Man Company and enjoy a groomed and party ready look.

* Don't overdo the wash: You must wash your face with a gentle cleanser and shower daily with a good body wash. Avoid using harsh face scrubs or soaps, since it will dry up your skin much more in dry weather, making it appear wrinkled. Also, avoid long, leisurely baths as hot water depletes skin of its natural moisture.

Gunjan Agnihotri, founder of Amila Finishing Lounge, a fashion and lifestyle start-up, shares some basic yet trendy tips to decorate your home.

* Lights, lights and more lights: Most special ceremonies in India traditionally involve the use of earthen diyas. If you can't get your hands on diyas, you can use tea lights and candles to achieve the same effect. Place floating candles in bowls with flowers and line the entryway with tiny twinkling tea lights. If you are not allowed to open flames at the wedding venue, you can use electric tea lights and strings of LED lights.

"Our music has strong melody and Bollywood is very adaptive to the international music scene as well. So, it is not surprising that our music has done so well outside of India as much as within it. I think Bollywood music will take over the world one day," Mika told in an email interaction from Dubai.

Often Bollywood music artistes are censured for taking inspiration from the west. But Mika, who performed at the Global Village's India Pavilion in Dubai last month along with Sunidhi Chauhan, says that "there is no question of ‘western' influences as such because music has no boundaries".

"Bollywood is a success because of its ability to adapt and grow with the international music trends. There is no question of ‘western' influences as such because music has no boundaries. Bollywood uses music influences even from Arabic music if it is befitting to the scene or style of a movie. Bollywood is Bollywood - its music is an amalgamation of many styles," he added.

However, she relates well with the character of Babita.

"Like Babita, I am also the youngest in the family and I share a very special bond with my father. So I found an emotional connection there while narrating the character," she said.

"Dangal" is a biographical sports drama which tells the story of Mahavir Singh Phogat, who taught wrestling to his daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari.
