Parineeti was sharing her thoughts at 2nd edition of ‘Behtar India’ organised by DHFL Pramerica Life Insurance Company Limited (DPLI) along with Singer Shaan and Arnab Goswami on Tuesday in Mumbai. The campaign, in its second year, supports the community to step forward and help itself in achieving better health, hygiene and environment standards.

When asked Parineeti does she focused on recycling in personal life because we have become so consumerist that we don’t notice that how much we consume, she said, “I very much do and I am not saying this because I am here. I never get associated with any campaign, brand and any initiatives if I don’t believe in it myself because I can’t read from list of answers or I can’t learn answers so whenever, I am on stage I have to speak from personal experiences and it has to be the truth so, I actually have two waste paper baskets at home. There is hardly any plastic in my house like plastic bags or straw. Everything is recycled and if there is tin can and other stuff, it’s all set. I actually have full on system in my house”

Sharing her personal experience, Parineeti said, “I like to scuba dive a lot. I scuba dive in every three months and I can’t tell you the amount of shit that you see underwater. There are fish that are drowning because they are choking on plastic bags and things like straws. If oceans become so dirty then earth will not survive so it’s really crucial that we make changes right now in terms of protecting our environment."

Stressing on using recycled products, Parineeti said, “You will see there is an organic or recyclable alternative to everything. It can be right from a spoon, a glass or a straw to the paper bag in which shopping that we do, everything can be natural but we are just so used to the ease of plastic etc that we don’t want to make an effort but I think you cannot wait for some other person. We have to it because we are the persons living on this planet."
When asked Parineeti what motivated her to become brand ambassador of ‘Behtar India’, she said, “I have come from very balanced and healthy childhood. My parents gave me a lovely childhood. Even though, we lived in Ambala, Punjab which was very small town but somehow within my home, I never felt any kind of issues so today when I am in a position where I can connect with so many people worldwide, I feel I have to use it to my advantage and I have to speak to people about things that genuinely matter to me so things like cleanliness, environment, women empowerment and equality, education that mattered to me was given to me so easily therefore, I feel I have to inculcate those thoughts and that ease in today’s children and hopefully adults if  I can influence them”

“It is important to spread the message of better health, hygiene and the importance of recycling within communities to make the world a better place to live in. It is a matter of great responsibility for me to take up this initiative and affect social change.”

Parineeti Chopra next will be seen in Dibakar Banerjee’s ‘Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s Namastey England’ and Dharma Productions ‘Kesari’.
