Amitabh Bachchan along with Gaurav Jain, R B Amesh Health and Vikram Chandra was present at the Banega Swach India season 5 launch.

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan who has been associated with the polio campaign since the get-go said, India becoming Polio free is all thanks to the people who actually worked on the field.

"We have left out the workers. They are the most important people. I did a campaign for Polio in India and after working for 8 years we were able to succeed and get India polio-free. But let me tell you the maximum amount of work and the credit goes to those workers who went to cities and villages and gave the two drops of polio vaccination. When the time came and India became polio-free a success party was organized. I asked who all were invited, and told them specifically to invite the workers who actually worked for the cause. Around 2000 people were invited and facilitated for their work.

These are the actual people who work, we sit here and talk but they are the reason we are polio-free so I want to give the credit to them."

The fifth season NDTV-Dettol Banega Swachh India will be focusing mainly on children as agents of change, who can inspire and motivate others to do the needful for a cleaner and healthier India. Amitabh Bachchan, who is the campaign Ambassador said we personally need to make the change and not wait for others to do the work. "Each one of us should go back today and think about what needs to be done. We all must take responsibility individually to ensure better sanitation and hygiene for India,"
Even after awareness and supporting so many campaigns we still have the few little habits that don't go away, when asked how can we make sure to continue the progress made Amitabh said, "We have to keep hammering it,  I just feel we have to continuously keep working towards it and personally start doing things. If you see something on the road just get out of your car and clean it. I think you have to forget about who you are and just get out and clean it.

And if there are even two people who watch you do it. It will set an example for the rest of the country. I am doing that as much as I can, all that matters is you should have the intention to do it personally. If you start doing things personally people will follow you. That's the best we can do."

He was last seen in '102 Not Out' directed by Umesh Shukla and costarring, Rishi Kapoor. His future projects include 'Thugs of Hindusthan' with Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif.
