Meghna Gulzar interacted with media along with Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal to promote their upcoming film ‘Raazi’ on Saturday in Mumbai.

Recently, makers of ‘Raazi’ obtained 12A certification with no cuts by British Censors, reacting to it, elated Meghna said, “Forget British censor board, we have got approval from Indian censor without any cuts which I think is a big relief because you feel satisfied when people who are certifying the film can relate with your sensibilities and intentions through which you are presenting the film.

I think certification also impacts the business of the film when you obtain 12A certification from British censor board then, it is also important for producers of the film and more audience can watch it in theatres”

Sharing her experience working with her father and industry veteran Gulzar in ‘Raazi’, Meghna said,   “He has supervised dialogues, the script of the film and penned down lyrics of the film. I think his inputs in films are like painter’s last stroke of the painting which changes the emotion of that painting altogether. He is like that.

We first write the script and do preps for the film and then it’s time to write songs and as he comes in the picture to write lyrics for the film, the whole film gets elevated a few notches higher. He has seen the film and he really liked it. He has told me that it has become your habit to mute the audience after making a film like ‘Talvar’ and now again, you will do that with ‘Raazi’”.

'Raazi' is an adaptation of Harinder Sikka's Calling Sehmat, a novel inspired by the almost-unbelievable real-life story of the woman who Sikka named Sehmat, to protect her identity.
Alia is playing Sehmat, a Kashmiri woman who marries a Pakistani officer with the intention to source out intelligence details and pass it off to Indian forces. Vicky Kaushal is essaying the role of the Pakistani officer.

'Raazi' is being directed by Meghna Gulzar and produced by Karan Johar and Vineet Jain.

It is scheduled to release on 11 May, 2018.
