It was a collection that would sparkle when the sun sets, and the moonlight plays with romantic shadows during the winter evenings. Vineet Rahul’s “Chandni Raat” shimmered on the runway during Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2018 in its beautiful natural hues.

Keeping the inspiration intact, the designing duo played with white, grey and charcoal - all three just perfect for evening glamour or a Red-Carpet entry.

The fabrics told a delicate tale of handwoven Chanderi silk and fine linen that was turned into the swirling layered VineetRahul trademark silhouettes. The fuss-free construction of the garments further ensured that the look presented grandeur, flamboyance, as well as drama after dark.

Hand block printing added to surface ornamentation while intricate hand embroidery techniques like hand French knots, zardosi, appliqués and couching brought breath-taking opulence to the collection. Long tunics appeared over elegant skirts, while floor kissing coats with eye-catching embroidery were turned into luxe creations.
Opening the show with a relaxed men’s wear jacket with loose pants, the look for the stronger sex revolved around kimono style shirts, tunics, long length hoodies, trendy contemporary style sherwani with cropped trousers and kurta robes. Men’s wear matched the theme with the sun/moon print coat which was worn with the mandarin collar shirt in shades of grey and black.

Women’s wear was delicately designed with celestial embroidery, which appeared on the sheer robes that looked divine over knee-length dresses and the pretty pink shifts or the belted midis that projected a feminine vibe. For an ethnic luxe look, it was the lehenga, choli and red dupatta trio, which was just perfect for evening glamour. The black sharply-cut notched printed coat over tunic and the red silk side tie-up tunic with the celestial print will be a great buy for women.

Looking utterly charming as the showstopper was Bollywood beauty Saiyami Kher, who gracefully, glided down in a white embroidered lehenga, grey choli and embroidered dupatta.

When the night of festivities reaches a crescendo, then the “Chandni Raat” collection by Vineet Rahul will light up the event.
