Actor #AvinashTiwary, who is gearing up for the release of his forthcoming film #LailaMajnu has said that the iconic love story of Laila Majnu is still very relevant in today’s time.
Avinash Tiwary was interacting with media to promote ‘Laila Majnu’ along with Tripti Dimri on Wednesday in Mumbai.
When asked Avinash how their film will be different from other production which was based on story of Laila Majnu, he said, “People often think that Laila Majnu is desi version of Romeo and Juliet but Romeo and Juliet was William Shakespeare’s story and the story of Laila Majnu was written much earlier. People are still following story of Laila Majnu over the years and I think in today’s time, their story is really relevant where every individual is searching for his or her soul mate and that is what we are bringing back through this film. I think the soul of a classical tale has been kept as it is in the film but we have contemporize it for today’s audience will enjoy the film while watching it.”
When asked Avinash whether he is feeling any kind of pressure as a newcomer to deliver success through this film, “I always looked up to be part of a good film and to play a good character. I think fortunately or unfortunately, people don’t know the story of Laila Majnu but they have heard names of these characters over the years so, this was an opportunity for us to tell this story for today’s generation. I think character of Majnu has many layers that lot of senior actors would find little bit of envy within that they haven’t got opportunity to play it. I think the way Imtiaz (Ali) sir has written and presented it and the way Sajid (Ali) has directed it is really fresh in its own way.”
When asked Avinash what was his experience working with Imtiaz Ali and Ekta Kapoor fir this film, he said, “Imtiaz sir is one of the prolific filmmakers of our time and Ekta madam is the only producer who is ruling three mediums in the industry. The kind of work that they do might be different but both of them of are creative genius so, we have got huge spectrum to present our story. When such stalwarts put their faith on you as an actor, then it feels really amazing so, we have tried to our level best to entertain the audience through our performances in the film.”
‘Laila Majnu’ is set in Kashmir, the story revolves around Kais (Avinash Tiwary) and Laila (Tripti Dimri) whose journey of love is filled with insurmountable obstacles.
Based on the classic story of Laila Majnu, this contemporary take on the tale has been penned by Imtiaz Ali.
The film is directed by Sajid Ali and produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and Pi Films.
It will hit the screens on 7th September, 2018.
