Filmmaker #HansalMehta is excited for #AanandLRai produced and #SohamShah staring #Tumbbad, the Indian fantasy film has been selected for a screening at the upcoming Venice #InternationalFilmFestival in its Critics' Week section.
Filmmaker Hansal Mehta took to his social media account and expressed his excitement and wished Aanand L Rai and Soham Shah. He wrote, “Whoa! Tumbbad to open Venice Film Critics Week. This masterful labor of love, perseverance and patience will be seen by the world. Many congratulations @s0humshah @aanandlrai #RahiAnilBarve and the stellar team that made this film”
Directed by Rahi Anil Barve Tumbad is a fantasy thriller and revolves around a desolate and forgotten village. The story is structured on the basis of greed.
Producer Aanand L Rai also confirmed the news on social media and wish Soham Shah. He wrote, “So proud @s0humshah!!! Tumbbad's finesse speaks for itself. #Tumbbad becomes the first Indian film EVER to open the iconic #VeniceFilmFestival”
The Venice critics' week entries will compete alongside the official selection for the fest's coveted 'Lion of the Future prize' which is worth $100,000.
The full official-selection of the 75th Venice Film Festival will be announced by this week. The fest is set to run from August 29 to September 8.
