Krishna Bhatt, along with Vikram Bhatt, Priyal Gor and Leena Jumani interacted with media at the launch of ‘Maaya 2’ on Tuesday.

‘Maaya 2’ revolves around lesbian love story so when asked Krishna Bhatt whether Indian audience are ready for a show detailing lesbian love stories, she said,  “No. I don’t think it’s bold for Indian audiences because I think we underestimate Indian audiences. They are not stupid, backward or orthodox that we think that they are not ready for all this. They are actually very ready. The comments which I have read on YouTube for our show, they are so encouraging.

There are so many people who want to talk about this openly but they cannot so, I think it’s not too bold. I think we don’t underestimate how intelligent Indian audiences are”

When asked Krisha Bhatt whether she was inspired by Deepa Mehta’s film ‘Fire’ which also revolved around lesbian love story, she said, “No.. I wasn’t inspired by anything except the fact that two people can be in love no matter who and what they are. You should not make a definition of normal based on what you think is normal. Love is love no matter with whom, when and where”
Directed by Krishna Bhatt the show revolves around two main characters Simmi and Ruhi. Maaya is the story of acceptance of one’s sexuality. Starring two reputable television faces, Leena Jumani and Priyal Gor, the story revolves around Simmi who’s a closeted lesbian woman engaged to a man hiding away from her truth and Ruhi, a far more liberal out of the closet girl.

The second season of Maaya will premiere on VB on the Web on 30th May.
