Actor #Robert_Hardy, known for his role in the "Harry Potter" movie franchise, has died. He was 91.
Hardy essayed the role of Cornelius Fudge, the Minister for Magic, in four Harry Potter films beginning with "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" in 2002. He reprised the role in 2004's "Prisoner of Azkaban," 2005's "Goblet of Fire," and 2007's "Order of the Phoenix". He died on Thursday, reported variety.com.
"Gruff, elegant, twinkly, and always dignified, he is celebrated by all who knew him and loved him, and everyone who enjoyed his work," read a statement from his family.
The statement further described Hardy as "a meticulous linguist, a fine artist, a lover of music and a champion of literature, as well a highly respected historian, and a leading specialist on the longbow".
"Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling tweeted: "So very sad to hear about Robert Hardy. He was such a talented actor and everybody who worked with him on Potter loved him."
