Anurag Basu's fantasy-adventure Jagga Jasoos released to an overwhelmingly positive critical response but didn't quite fly at the box-office.

While both Ranbir Kapoor and Anurag Basu haven't spoken since the film's release, Ranbir's outspoken father, Rishi Kapoor has blasted the director for being 'irresponsible’.

Reacting to that, Sayani supported Anurag Basu who plays important character in Jagga Jasoos, she said, “I don’t think Anurag Basu is irresponsible. I keep saying that he is mad genius. Everyone has their way of working and you can’t really criticize anyone because it is very personal thing. An artist trying his or her best to create something then you should just give the space they need to be able to make a film the way they want to.  I had lot of fun while working with Basu and I would love to work with him again and again.”

She added, “I don’t think Jagga Jasoos is a debacle either.. It’s a very difficult format of the filmmaking. In India, we don’t have reference point for musicals. I have grown up watching Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne (Bengali film) by Satyajit Ray. Masses in India haven’t really grown up watching films like this. It was very difficult and brave film to make. I am very happy that we made the film. Failure and success doesn’t matter because it’s an extremely special film and I believe it’s a step forward for Indian cinema.”
Talking about her future projects, Sayani said, “After inside Edge, I have 2 Indo-British films. One of which is ‘Hungry’. It is going to premiered at Toronto Film Festival in September that will be the America premiere of the film so I am really excited about that. Naseeruddin Shah is playing my father in the film.”

Talking about her character in Hungry she said, “My character name is Laveen Ahuja She is 22 year old who come from very rich family but there is lot to go on in her life. It’s a plot driven film.  It is based on William Shakespeare’s tragedy ‘Titus Andronicus’. It will be very gruesome drama”.

Talking about success of Inside Edge, she said, “It feels really good.  Earlier, we were really apprehensive because it was first time original content from India was ready to go in front of worldwide audience but apparently, it did really well. People said that it’s a very gripping show and it is well written and performances was also good and more than that it looked like authentic show on the game of cricket.”

Inside Edge is an inside look behind the politics of the game which is set in a landscape of conflicting interests, where selfishness is almost a virtue, where sex, money, and power are mere means to an end.
