It is our responsibility to make sure they make a name for themselves says Karan Johar about Dhadhak stars

Karan along with director Shashank Khaitan co-stars Ishaan Khatter and Jahnvi Kapoor were present at the trailer launch of their forthcoming film 'Dhadak'. 

When asked Karan what is the most important thing when introducing new starts to the industry, he said, "The most important thing for us is to make sure they can go beyond their name and make a place for themselves. This is our responsibility and their's. Today people are talking the family name so much that they forget that behind that name also there is a lot of hard work, and passion. 

It is not easy to face the camera, audience, media and they are just kids right now. We easily give them a tag as star kids but they work hard too. I will not use the word (nepotism) which is being used as a tag because I don't support the idea of it. People are not here because of that word but because of their hard work."

While Shahid Kapoor’s brother Ishaan Khatter has already worked in Majid Masjidi’s film, 'Beyond The Cloud'. Dhadak will mark his lead debut in Bollywood. While Sridevi’s daughter Jahnvi Kapoor will be seen on the screen for the first time ever. 

'Dhadak which is an official remake of award winning Marathi film Sairat is based in Udaipur. When asked about the choice to locate the film in the city of Udaipur director Shashank Khaitan said, "I am marwadi myself so I knew about the region, I have traveled and lived there. When I watched Sairat and thought I would adapt this film immediately I had this region in my mind.  

I am aware of how people talk, behave and live there which is why this was a very natural decision. The film originally is so great that to adapt it you have to be sensitive we have tried our best to be true to the story. We have not tried to force anything new or different."

Backed by banner Dharma Productions, Dhadak is scheduled for release in July 2018.
