Anupam Kher, outsider from the film industry has given opportunity to young actors in his film so when asked him what it takes to present new talent amid debate of nepotism, he said, “I am living example in this industry that if you work hard and you are honest, you will always reach your destination. I came to this city with Rupees 37 in my pocket and today I am producer of this film. I feel hard work always pays off. When I heard Rohit Shetty’s early struggle when I did show with him from where we have reached today”
Talking about storyline of the film, Kher said, “It’s a slice of life film. I have grown up in small town. I have done my first job in small town so I understand characters of small town very well. Small town people have dreams, big city people have target. Apart from that, this film is funny, romantic. This film is basically about how small town people are and all characters in the film are real”
When asked him what prompted him to produce this film, Kher said, “Last time, I produced ‘Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Mara’, after that I wanted to become tycoon but I went bankrupt. That time, I wanted to have Anupam Kher studio but I realized that I don’t have 5000 as well then I did my play ‘Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai’ which is based on failures in my life and that play gave me maximum amount of money”
“When Sattwik (director) came to me I saw same look when I had gone to meet Bhatt saab so I feel when you have ability to help someone then you should do it. Now if film does well or doesn’t do well but I don’t care. My job is to bring it to certain level and rest will audience decide”
Talking about working Anupam Kher, Sattwik Mohanty, said, “It was very easy to direct Kher sir because he never used to come on set with baggage of doing 500-550 films. He used to come on set as if he is a newcomer. He was completely directors actor and he used completely surrender himself as actor so I didn’t had to do much because he takes instructions very minutely so I never had to repeat anything with him and he was extremely discipline on sets so It was great learning curve for all of us”
It stars Anupam Kher, Taaha Shah, Himansh Kohli, Jimmy Shergill, Satish Kuashik and Soundarya Sharma in lead roles.
Ranchi Diaries is all set to release on October 13 this year.
