Indo-French designer duo #HemantSagar and #DidierLecoanet have found inspiration in the co-existence of tradition and modernity in #Ladakh for their Autumn/ Winter 2016 collection under their accessible luxury line Genes - Lecoanet Hemant.
Going to Ladakh was an eye-opener for the duo.
"We were touched by the intuitive, yet self-assured functioning of this society that accepts today, as a logical step ahead from yesterday and there is no rebellion," Sagar said in an email interaction.
The designers are going to launch the line at an event here on Thursday at Vayu, Bikaner House.
"The inspiration drawn for the collection translates into a variety of different styles and silhouettes which include cowl and crew necklines, and have leather and fur inserts and intriguing embroidery and a plethora of eye-catching prints.
"The collection has everything from sleek office shirts to overcoats and bags in Fall hues such as of khaki, navy, black, white, grey and burgundy. A contrast of strength, yet an emotional attachment is seen with the use of tribal-inspired prints and classic cutouts," said Sagar.
This collection has a little more festive feel to it than their previous offerings.
"There is a more festive feeling in this collection, a discreet elegance and playfulness using similar themes for men and women while underlining each distinctively," said Sagar, who has integrated different techniques and fabrics like grunge prints, urban scuba, embroidery inspired by digital impressions, artistic quilting and more.
