Kangana turns Mughal empress for Manav Gangwani

Actress #KanganaRanaut looked every inch a Mughal empress as she walked for #ManavGangwani in his creation from his latest collection titled #BegumeJannat at the #FDCI India Couture Week 2016 here on Sunday.

Kangana looked ravishing in a maroon choli, with mirror work, that she paired with a heavily embroidered lehenga and mesh duppatta. The "Queen" star with beautiful curls completed her regal look with minimal make-up.

"Kangana is a very versatile person and it is easy working with her. She exudes a certain charm and a classic yet modern vibe that sets perfectly with my collection this year," Gangwani, who has styled stars like Hrithik Roshan, Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga and Eric Clapton, told.
The offsite show hosted by Gangwani at the Lodhi hotel here, saw as many as 70 handcrafted silhouettes that captured the era of the Mughals and the royal age effortlessly with flowing kaftans, intricately designed lehengas, flamboyant saris and classic sherwani in shades of ivory, black, navy, green, maroon and white.

With specially curated music by Amaan and Ayaan Ali Bangash, the models sashayed down the ramp in pieces from the grand collection, which saw intricate work of zardozi. 

The designer used fabrics such as luxurious silk velvet, sheer gauzy tissues, regal silk and tulle sprinkled with shimmering mirror work. 

His collection, which made many emotional including actress-social activist Nafisa Ali, was an to ode Gangwani's friend Zainab Nedou Patel, who was from Kashmir and passed away recently.

Talking about the collection, Gangwani told: "Begum-e-Jannat is an amalgamation of sentiments evoked by the word 'Jannat' which means paradise. Every garment in this collection is disguised as a visual piece of paradise to be owned and cherished.

"The collection also strives to reinvent the age-old silhouette of the Angrakha, which literally translates to a body protection. This is a crossover open silhouette that is feminine while retaining its royal demeanor."

"Tanu Weds Manu" star, who walked for the designer for the second time, says she felt special in the showstopper dress.

The attendees including celebrities like Robert Vadra and Zayed Khan put up a glittering sideshow who reached the hotel in some of the fanciest cars seen in Delhi. 

Connoisseur of luxury fashion wear Rohit Bal, who has been a part of the industry for over two decades and is popular for his lotus prints, will be drawing the curtains on the gala by showcasing his ensembles on Sunday evening with an off-site show at the newly-renovated Bikaner House here.
