Coming August you could witness a two day National Startup Fest, an event to boost the Indian startup ecosystem. The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), will be organizing the event, which will most probably be held in Hyderabad. DIPP has plans to invite over 10,000 startups to attend the event the fest.
According to our sources, the fest will aim to be a platform for match making startups with venture capital funds and angel investors besides discussing key issues facing budding entrepreneurs. It will also act as a platform for startups to showcase their products and bring the startup community together.
There might be more focus on sectors like education, health, manufacturing and agriculture that impact the masses in a big way. What is also expected to be a part of the main agenda are issues like funding to mentoring. Padmaja Ruparel , president of the Indian Angel Network has said in a statement-
“It is great ground for us to talk to and meet invest-able entrepreneurs. It’s a national level platform to bring all players together. It is a tangible programme emanating out of the Startup India initiative,”
While announcing The Startup India action plan in January, PM Narendra Modi had said that organizing such events would provide national and international visibility to India’s startups. There will also be events that will not just invite startups but also their investors, accelerators, incubators from across the globe. The PMO in its review meetings of the startup initiative has asked the DIPP to reach out to more stakeholders.
