The first look of Yami Gautam from war-action drama URI is out and the actress will be seen in a new avatar, playing the role of an Intelligence officer in the highly anticipated film URI: The Surgical Strike.

The film is a military drama based on real-life incident on Indian Army's surgical strikes across LOC. Vicky Kaushal and Yami will be seen sharing screen space in leading roles.

Directed and written by Aditya Dhar, the film features Yami in a physically intense role for which she’s also trained in mixed martial arts. All those wondering about Yami's new look with short hair; it’s for the film only. The director, the stylist and the actress decided to experiment and give her character a fuss-free look.

The film is produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP, the film is based on India Army’s surgical strike on terror launch pads across Line of Control (LoC). The teaser of the film was released one day before the second anniversary of the strike conducted by India on September 29, 2016.

Yami interacted with media about becoming Hong Kong Tourism's Brand Ambassador on Monday.

While talking about 'Batti Gul medter Chalu' trailer release and how excited she is for the film she said, "Our trailer has received a very good response so of course the entire team is very happy and there is still a lot of time for the film to release so we will talk about it more soon. But I am very happy with the kind of response the film's trailer has received and we are looking forward to much more."

The actress visited  Hong Kong recently to promote the city's Tourism from India. When asked about her experience at the Disney World city she said,  "The collaboration has been amazing with Hong Kong Tourism and I think the pictures I posted speak for themselves. They are a good refection of the experience I had. When you are really enjoying and are having fun where you are, it doesn't become a mere promotion.

The trailer starts off with the comedy feel what we would expect of a Shahid Kapoor film but it soon takes a dark turn when Shahid friend dies after being scammed by the electric company. Shahid who plays a lawyer is seen trying to write the wrong with support of love interest Shraddha Kapoor. Yami Gautam will be seen as a lawyer defending the company.

The film is helmed by Shree Narayan Singh and this one is lot better and relatable than his last outing “Toilet Ek Prem Katha”. The issue of electricity bills, shortage and callous outlook of power companies toward general public has been bought to forefront via this social drama, Batti Gul Meter Chalu.

Shahid Kapoor plays this careless and corrupt lawyer, who would do anything for a quick buck, but when his friend commits suicide due to electricity bill, which is 5.5 millions. The actor goes all out to avenge his friends’ death and call out the mess-ups by companies in court case.

Yami Gautam plays this high-end lawyer, who is defending the power companies and bubbly Shraddha Kapoor plays the role of Shahid’s girlfriend in the film. The tone of the film is great and more relatable.

Actor Shahid Kapoor has released the first poster of his most awaited film Batti Gul Meter Chalu and it won’t be wrong to say that it is as lit as the lead actors.

Taking to social media, lead actor Shahid Kapoor shared the poster of the film that features the whole city in a bulb which is fused. The poster reads, “fused bulb se Kranti nahi layi jaa sakti.”
