The first look of Yami Gautam from war-action drama URI is out and the actress will be seen in a new avatar, playing the role of an Intelligence officer in the highly anticipated film URI: The Surgical Strike.

The film is a military drama based on real-life incident on Indian Army's surgical strikes across LOC. Vicky Kaushal and Yami will be seen sharing screen space in leading roles.

Directed and written by Aditya Dhar, the film features Yami in a physically intense role for which she’s also trained in mixed martial arts. All those wondering about Yami's new look with short hair; it’s for the film only. The director, the stylist and the actress decided to experiment and give her character a fuss-free look.

The film is produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP, the film is based on India Army’s surgical strike on terror launch pads across Line of Control (LoC). The teaser of the film was released one day before the second anniversary of the strike conducted by India on September 29, 2016.

Eleven days later, the Indian Army retaliated with a series of surgical strikes on terrorist camps across the border.

Vicky Kaushal looks serious and dapper in uniform. The teaser talks about the retaliation and Indian army taking back the pride and safeguarding the territory.
