After emerging as the winner of the first edition of live voting-led singing TV show "Rising Star", singer #Bannet_Dosanjh is now set to make his debut as a playback singer with the next project by #Mahesh_Bhatts home banner, Vishesh Films.

Bhatt, who has launched Bollywood singers like Arijit Singh, Atif Aslam and Arko Pravo Mukherjee, will now give a platform to Bannet. 

Bannet, hailing from Jalandhar's Dosanjh Kalan, was named the winner of the TV show on April 23. Along with a trophy, he took home Rs 20 lakh as prize money and bagged a contract with Vishesh Films.

Her comment came post singer Armaan Malik's support to Kher.

Sonakshi will perform as one of the opening acts at the highly anticipated gig, which will be held at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on May 10. Kher had told in an interview that getting the "Dabangg" actress on board to perform at Bieber's maiden concert in the country over any other acclaimed Indian singer is not a good sign, and sends a wrong message internationally.

Malik, who has crooned songs like "Sab tera", "Wajah tum ho" and "Sau aasmaan", took to Twitter on Monday to write: "Agree with Kailash Kher sir! Actors are actors and singers are singers. Leave the stage and mic to us, that's our playground not yours."

"There are times, when actors do resemble the characters they portray onscreen, but I don't think I have played myself in front of the camera. I have always portrayed a character. Though I would love to play myself. I think I am very interesting. I need to definitely play myself," Huma told in an interview.

"I don't know what I am in real life. I can't really describe myself. But what you see onscreen that's not who we really are. We are very different from the characters we play onscreen," added the actress, who promoted diamond brand Forevermark here earlier this week.

Huma said she has often been misunderstood because of her roles.

"I remember when I did my first film 'Gangs of Wasseypur', a lot of people thought that I am a girl from Bihar. I never visited Bihar before that in my life. When people feel you are that character in real life, then at least as actors we feel that we have done our job nicely.

Mehta on Sunday night took to Twitter, where he shared a photograph of himself along with actress Kangana Ranaut, who will be seen playing the role of a Gujarati NRI named Praful Patel.

The actor took to Twitter on Sunday to share the news about the win. 

He posted: "After Berlinale win, another feather in Newton's cap. Won the Jury Prize for Best Film at the Hong Kong International Film Festival."

"Newton" is Amit Masurkar's second film after "Sulemani Keeda" in 2014. 

The film had its world premiere at Berlinale, and won the Art Cinema award for the Forum section there. The film also went to 16th Annual Tribeca Film Festival.

Also starring Anjali Patel, "Newton", a political black comedy, revolves around a clerk placed on election duty in a conflict-ridden area of Chhattisgarh.

Shatrughan doesn't watch all the films of his daughter. But he did see her latest release "Noor" -- and he can't stop raving about her performance.

"I speak not as a father but as a co-artiste. And while I am supposedly a great actor, she has proved she can do things I never could. I can happily say Sonakshi Sinha has managed to make a very difficult part look easy. It's not easy to play someone so sloppy and so full of herself," said Shatrughan, confessing that he watched his daughter's performance nervously.

Officers in Harrison county in the Indiana state responded to reports of an unresponsive female in Corydon, Indiana, on Saturday afternoon, reports people.com.

First responders determined that the woman, identified as Moran, had died. An autopsy is pending.

The actress says it was great catching up with her friends from the industry.

Asked what kind of characters she will never play on screen, she told in an email interaction: "I don't really have such kind of things in my mind. There are certain things that I am not comfortable doing on screen which is what I did in 'Hate Story 3'. I don't want to get into that genre again, I just did it to break the mould."

"I find kissing a stranger very awkward. The main criteria for me while selecting a project is the script. It has to be demanding and should challenge me as an actor. I don't mind doing a kissing scene as long as it's not just to pull the audience."

The former background dancer has come a long way. After doing a few films in Kannada language, she made her Bollywood acting debut in 2014 with superstar Salman Khan's "Jai Ho".

Is she happy with the kind of roles offered to her now?

"I am being very cautious when it comes to signing films. The main reason why I am not doing so many films is because I want to do different kinds of films. I crave to do different characters and I don't want to get typecast."

Talking about the romantic comedy film "Ramratan", Daisy told in an email interaction: "'Ramratan' has shaped up really well. We are almost done with the film except for one song. I will finish the tour and shoot for the song and then we are done."

"We will soon start with the promotions. It's a nice family film. It has a Rajshri (Rajshri Productions) touch and it's something which I have never done earlier," she said about the film directed by Govind Sakariya.

She is currently on the 'Da-Bangg Tour' with Salman and others, including Sonakshi Sinha, to Malaysia, Hong Kong, Auckland in New Zealand, and Sydney and Melbourne in Australia. The tour will conclude on Sunday.
